Write Up: This project consisted of a major renovation to an existing house Ballard. The house has a lot of dated details (including a pretty great marble and mirrored bathroom), but still had a good core.

The second floor had great views of the Sound and Olympic mountains so the original design called for the living space to be on the second floor and the sleeping space to be on the first floor. We tried to enhance the idea by adding decks and more fenestration to enjoy the sights.

My roll on this project focused on documentation and construction administration after the designs were established.

The documentation during construction included a robust detail package of the bi-folding doors and windows that looked at each condition to ensure continuity between the fenestration types.

After the project was completed, the owner, a Ham Radio operator, asked for further assistance permitting an antenna in the back yard which was one of the more fun drawings I’ve had the chance to draw.
